Episode 118 - Waterworld
Welcome back to your favorite podcast about some of the most notorious cinema bombs of all time. On this week’s episode, the gang discusses one of the most infamous big budget films of all time - Waterworld, AKA Kevin’s Gate, AKA Fishtar. Waterworld was the most expensive movie ever made, at the time, and was plagued by bad press, difficult production, and clashes between the main star and director. Not A Bomb could not tackle such a film on their own, so they called friend of the show - Josh from The VHS Files podcast to assist in the discussion. Was Waterworld the disaster the press made it out to be? Was this a case of critics reviewing the budget rather than the film? Or is this really a simple and fun Mad Max ripoff with some spectacular action sequences? Listen and find out!

Episode 117 - Congo
It has been argued that there is no such thing as a “perfect” film. On this week’s episode of Not A Bomb, we put that theory to the test as Troy and Brad discuss 1995’s talking gorilla film - Congo. The guys cannot tackle such a film as Congo without help, so they welcome Charlie back to the show but also The Twisted Kid Matt - host of The Mix Tape Podcast makes his Not A Bomb debut. The podcast quickly devolves into juvenile human/gorilla relationship jokes, turning Dylan Walsh into a human punching bag, and praising what should have been Delroy Lindo’s Academy Award Winning performance. *** Just a warning, this episode is NSFW so DO NOT listen in your car with your kids! Seriously! You might have to explain some very politically incorrect jokes. You’ve been warned!
Timestamps:
Intro - (0:39), 5 Buning Questions for Twisted Kid Matt, Box Office Results and Critical Response - (15:00), Behind the Camera - (19:59), In Front of the Camera - (25:19), Commercial Break - (37:19), Congo Discussion - (39:14), Is it a Bomb? - (99:35), info on The Mix Tape Podcast - (106:27), What’s next? - (111:35), and Outro - (128:56)
Congo is directed by Frank Marshall and stars Laura Linney, Dylan Walsh, Ernie Hudson, Grant Heslov, Joe Don Baker, Tim Curry, and Bruce Campbell.
