Episode 185 - Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and Guy Ritchie's The Covenant
As the end of 2023 approaches, Not A Bomb has decided to go out with a bang. On this week’s show, we discuss not one but two bombs by the same director, Guy Ritchie. This was a rough year at the box office for Mr. Ritchie. Both Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and Guy ritchie’s The Covenant didn’t make their production budget back during their theatrical run. Critics definately liked one movie over the other. And audiences, who did see the films, liked both.
We couldn’t take on two films in one show without some help. Nate, friend and family member, jumps on to share his thoughts on Guy Ritchie’s filmography and help us decide if these two films deserve more attention.
If that wasn’t enough, we also reveal our 5 best and worst films of the year. Brad followed the instructions. Troy did his own thing. Nate gives everybody a shock with his take on Jackie Chan’s Ride On. You are going to get a lot of recommendations from these lists!
We also want to take a minute and thank all of you for an amazing year and all of the wonderful support. We are truly humbled by our community and appreciate all the feedback.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza, Josh Harnett, Cary Elwes, Bugzy Malone, Eddie Marsan, and Hugh Grant.
Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Dar Salim, Antony Starr, Alexander Ludwig, Emily Beecham, and Jonny Lee Miller.
Also, this is the last week to let Not A Bomb know your best/worst films of 2023. Head over to Not A Bomb and submit your choice!

NAB Presents: Breaking Brad - Experiment 12: Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas
Welcome back to Not A Bomb Presents: Breaking Brad. The premise is simple. Troy, Sammy from GGTMC, and Jose from Watch/Skip+ pick some of the worst films imaginable to see if they can break Brad. In this final episode of the series, the war on Christmas must be stopped and the only person worthy is Kirk Cameron and his ego. That’s right, the gang celebrates the Christmas season with Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas. Look, the film is bad. Santa Clause vs. the Martians is a masterpiece compared to this religious propaganda. You will, however, enjoy hearing just how broke everybody is after a year long experiment of bad films. Brad also gives his finally rankings for this season of Breaking Brad. Sadly, the series is taking a much-needed break. Don’t worry! We have a great series coming next year with the same crew. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays - except to you Kirk Cameron. You’re in time out!
Be sure to subscribe to the Gentlemen’s Guide to Midnite Cinema to hear more of Sammy. Also, check out Jose’s podcast - Watch/Skip+ • A podcast on Anchor. Both are highly recommended.

Episode 184 - Babylon
Welcome back to your favorite podcast about some of Hollywood’s biggest bombs. This month, Not A Bomb is examining some of 2023’s biggest box office failures and critically lambasted films! Once again, Brad’s shenanigans are back and he’s breaking all the rules. On this week’s episode, the guys welcome back Jose from Watch/Skip+ to discuss the very divisive film from 2022 that didn’t get a wide release until 2023, Babylon. This three hour epic is an ode to Hollywood during the transition from silent films to talkies (imagine Singing in the Rain but much darker in tone). Notable for its All-Star cast, Babylon failed to make an impact at the box-office and divided most critics. Does Babylon’s 3-hour runtime deserve your attention? Is it too obnoxious, trangressive, and pretensious for the average film fan? Or maybe this is a visually majestic tragedy that will soon become a cult classic? Download and listen!
Babylon is directed by Damein Chazelle and stars Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li, P.J. Bryne, Lukas Haas, Max Minghella, Rory Scovel, Katherine Waterston, and Tobey Maguire.
As the year comes to an end, Not A Bomb wants to know your best/worst films of 2023. Head over to Not A Bomb and submit your choice!
Also, longtime friend of Troy and Brad, Michael Neel, released his movie - Infinite Santa 8000 via Synapse Films. Do yourself a favor and order your copy before they are gone.
