Episode 14 - Ip Man 2

Welcome back to another exciting new episode of Not A Bomb. Ip Man month comes as Troy and Brad welcome John Nance back to the show. Ip Man 2 finds Master Ip and his family moving to Hong Kong after the events of the first film. Here Ip Man aspires to open his Wing Chun School; however Master Ip runs into a group of masters unwilling to accept him. Then the movies takes a turn down Rocky IV road, where Ip Man must avenge a follow master against an evil boxer.

The gang opens the show speaking about their favorite sequels and John teaches the young grasshoppers about the real-life Ip Man.

Ip Man 2 is directed by Wilson Yip, and stars; Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, Huang Xiaoming, Lynn Hung, and Kent Cheng.

IP Man month has finally arrived. This week Brad and Troy discuss the first film in the series - Ip Man. This 2008 film finds Ip Man, a grandmaster of Wing Chun and teacher of Bruce Lee, during the Japanese invasion of the city of Foshan. The boys begin the show discussing how they found themselves in the Hong Kong action genre and the propagandizing of the IP Man story. Oh yeah, and most importantly, Donnie Yen.

What’s better to bring the family together than talking about unsolved murders from the 1960’s? Zodiac was critically adored when it was released in March 2007 but, fortunately, was overshadowed by Wild Hogs…yes, Wild Hogs. Troy, Angel, and Brad go on a 2 hour journey discussing the film and the Zodiac murders themselves.

Zodiac is directed by David Fincher and stars; Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey, Jr., Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox, Elias Koteas, Donal Logue, John Carroll Lynch, and Dermot Mulroney.
