Welcome back to Not A Bomb Podcast, the show where we go back and reexamine some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history. The theme for this month is all about prestige films, movies that bombed at the box office but also won multiple academy awards. We kick things off with a discussion of a high profile family, adventure film from 2011 - Hugo. This gives Troy and Brad a reason to talk about one of the greatest directors of all time - Martin Scorsese. Hugo was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and took home five wins, but it wasn’t enough to save it from losing more than $100 million during its box office run. As a bonus, Troy and Brad share their top three Scorsese films and talk about the relevancy of the academy award ceremony.

On this week’s show, we travel back to mouse country and take a look at 2015’s science fiction film - Tomorrowland. We have a brand new guest this week from across the big pond! The gang is happy to welcome Shaun from the SIVAKO: Road to Avatar podcast. The guys go down many roads this week and Tomorrowland ends up creating one of the most interesting conversations on social messaging in modern film. This episode mostly acts as a two-hour excuse to make dumb jokes about an obscure 80’s horror film, Stepfather II: Make Room for Daddy. Yes, you read that title correctly. However, the gang does manage to discuss Chekhov’s rock, swamps in Texas, Ken Foree, the problems with filming your movie next to an amusement park, Lone Star State Loonies, and Rob Zombie.
