Episode 76 - Heaven's Gate
Howdy Partner, and welcome back to Not A Bomb. This the podcast where we reexamine the biggest box office flops of all time and see if they deserve a second chance. On this episode, Troy and Brad welcome back Sammy from the GGTMC to discuss the 3 AND A HALF HOURS LONG, western - Heaven’s Gate. This film is widely known as one of the biggest financial flops of all time and was Michael Cimino’s follow-up to his Academy Award winning film- The Deer Hunter.
Cimino was given a blank check for Heaven’s Gate and the production spiraled out of control within the first week of shooting. Join Troy, Brad and Sammy as they talk about the late, great Z-Channel, the crazy production tales involving a self-obsessed director, and the real-life events that inspired the script.
Heaven’s Gate is directed by Michael Cimino and stars Kris Kristfferson, Christopher Walken, John Hurt, Sam Waterson, Brad Dourif, Isabelle Huppert, Jeff Bridges, and Joseph Cotten.

Episode 75 - Ishtar
Welcome back to Not A Bomb! The podcast where we go back and examine films that either financially flopped in the theater or were panned by the critics. Boy, do we have one of the biggest flops of all time! This week, we discuss the notorious 1987 film - Ishtar. Considered one of the worse films of all time, Ishtar has been the butt of countless jokes and harsh criticism. The film was plagued by a tyrannical director, an overreaching producer, sand dunes, star egos, potential kidnappings, camel problems and so…so many more production issues.
Let’s be honest, the less said about Ishtar the better.
Ishtar is directed by Elaine May and stars Dustin Hoffman, Warren Beatty, Isabelle Adjani, Charles Grodin, and Jack Weston.
