Episode 263 - Watchmen (Ultimate Cut)

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema’s biggest box office failures and decide whether they deserve a second chance. We are celebrating five years of discussing cinematic flops!

Comic Book Month kicks off with a bang as Not A Bomb tackles a legendary title once deemed “unfilmable.” So, who did Hollywood call? Zack Snyder, of course…

Join the crew as they time-jump back to 1985 and dive into the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen (2009)—a bold adaptation of one of the greatest graphic novels ever written. While the theatrical release struggled to connect with mainstream audiences, does the Ultimate Cut finally deliver the definitive version fans were hoping for?

Helping unpack this dense and divisive film is long-time listener and first-time guest Alex, who brings fresh insight to the conversation. The episode also explores Warner Bros. Animation’s 2024 Watchmen: Chapter I & II releases and how they stack up against Snyder’s vision.

Who watches the Watchmen? Not A Bomb does—and now you can too.

Watchmen is directed by Zach Snyder and stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffery Dean Morgan, and Patrick Wilson

Not A Bomb has plenty of news designs in our Merch store! Head over to the Not A Bomb Tee Public store and check them out. Special thanks to Ted Blair for the amazing designs!

We're committed to hearing your feedback and suggestions. If there's a cinematic flop you'd like us to delve into, please reach out to us at NotABombPod@gmail.com or through our contact page. Your reviews and feedback are what drive us. If you enjoy our content, consider leaving a review on Apple Podcast or Spotify.

Episode 213 - The Alamo

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we dive into some of cinema's biggest box office failures and explore whether they deserve a second chance.

As we roll into the summer months, Not A Bomb has decided to dedicate July to the Summer Blockbuster season. That particular time of year when film budgets seemingly have no limit. To kick off our Summer Blockbuster extravaganza, Troy and Brad tackle 2004’s historical drama - The Alamo. All this is well and good, but here is what you need to know: the summer blockbuster season is May-August. That was the assignment, and Brad picked a film released in April, so we are already off to a great start! Outside of someone’s inability to understand time, we hope you enjoy the episode.

The Alamo is directed by John Lee Hancock and stars Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Jason Patric, Patrick Wilson, Jordi Molla, and Emilio Echevarria

Not A Bomb just launched new designs in our Merch store! Head over to the Not A Bomb Tee Public store and check them out. Special thanks to Ted Blair for the amazing designs!

We value your feedback and suggestions. If you have a cinematic flop you'd like us to discuss, please reach out to us at NotABombPod@gmail.com or through our contact page. Episode 133 - Moonfall

Welcome back film fans to the best movie podcast about big movie bombs! As 2022 comes to an end, so does our lookback on some of the biggest bombs of this year. For our final episode, the podcast travels to stupid city for the science fiction disaster film - Moonfall. If we are destroying the Earth in some silly manner, it’s gotta be a Roland Emmerich film! How silly is this latest entry from the master of disaster? The Moon, which is a mega-structure built by aliens, is crashing into the Earth because another set of aliens doesn’t like us. Yep, the moon is not made out of cheese but is in fact an alien summer home or something. The guys need some assistance with this one, so they welcome Cam from the Jacked Up Review Show. Does Moonfall earn a seat in the “B-Movie Hall of Fame” or is it too stupid for its own good? And how much science was actually used behind the scenes, if any? Listen and found it!

Timestamps: Intro - (1:07), 5 Burning Questions - (4:28), Box Office Results and Critical Response - (11:10), Behind the Camera - (19:23), In Front of the Camera - (27:22), Science! - (37:10), Commerical Break - (52:11), Moonfall Discussion - (54:40), Is it a Bomb? - (98:32), Outro - (111:58)
